Our efforts are in support of the relief efforts of Youth With A Mission Haiti. They are located in St Marc, Haiti. St Marc is only about 40 miles north of Port au Prince, but it escaped the earthquake with relatively minor damage. Given it's condition and proximity to PAP, St Marc has seen a large and steady stream of refugees since the earthquake.
National Director of YWAM Haiti Terry Snow has been working with local pastors to create a plan to handle the surge of refugees to St Marc and their plan has been accepted by both the current Haitian Administration and the UN. YWAM Haiti has also been asked by the local Haitian administration to operate the Earthquake Victim Registration program for all earthquake victims currently living in or coming to St Marc as refugees.
There are many other ways that YWAM Haiti is functioning to try to meet the needs of the earthquake victims including rescue teams, feeding programs, medical assistance, education, counsel, comfort, prayer... Much like it is in so many places in Haiti right now, their needs are overwhelming.
For more information on the situation in Haiti and YWAM Haiti's involvement, I'd encourage you to read through the updates and watch the video. For more information or to be part of what we are doing in support of their efforts, please check out the rest of the site or contact us.
If you are interested in taking a team to Haiti or going there to serve in any way, please email relief@ywamhaiti.org. Doctors, nurses, teachers, intercessors, handy men... if you have a pulse, you have a gift and they can use it! :)
